Powered by the Aragon, Etherem and IPFA infrastructures District0x is a decentralised network which serves communities and marketplaces, known as districts. The District0x platform allows users to create decentralised markets and communities on the blockchain, using smart contracts from the the Ethereum network. Any marketplace or community can be deployed free of charge on the District0x system.
How To Buy DNT
So you’re interested in buying DNT? Currently, there is no way to buy DNT directly with fiat, so the best way to buy DNT is to first purchase Ethereum, transfer it to your chosen trading platform and change it to DNT. We’ll show you how.
2. Once your account has been created and confirmed, log into your Binance account. Once you have logged into the account, go to the menu, click on the funds section and then deposit on the drop down bar.
3. Once you’re on the Deposit section, click the drop down menu labeled “Select Deposit Coin” and look for Ethereum, or type ETH and select.
4. This is your Ethereum Deposit Address, we have chosen Ethereum instead of Bitcoin due to the lower fees and transfer times. Next we’re going to look at buying Ethereum and depositing it into your Binance account.
1. First change the Buy option from BTC to ETH for USD and then choose your amount.
2. When you have chosen the amount of Ethereum you want to purchase (A minimum of 0.05 ETH is required), you will need to register and confirm your CEX account and payment details.
Once that has been confirmed and the ETH has been deposited into your account, we will then need to move it over to Binance.
3. Select the Withdraw option at the top of the site and select Ethereum as your currency. You will then be given a field, where you will add a wallet. This is where you can transfer your money to Binance.
4. Go back to your Binance Account and copy the alpha numeric code under your Ethereum Deposit section and paste it into your Ethereum Withdrawal section on CEX.io. Confirm that this address is correct and press “Withdraw“.
Your Binance account will now be credited with Ethereum.
2. On the trading platform, select the ETH section and use the search function to search for DNT/ETH and confirm.
3. On the DNT/ETH trading section you can now choose how much DNT you want to buy with your Ether. Once you have chosen your amount, press Buy DNT and place your order.
Once your order has been fulfilled, your account will be credited. Congratulations you’re now the proud owner of distirct0x.
Who are District0x?
District0x is made up of numerous developers all around the globe. making it one of the first cryptocurrency’s with a truely global presence. Lead Developer and founder Matus Lestan has been developing the idea for district0x practically his entire life. Before district0x was developed his efforts were focused on the Clojure-Ethereum ecosystem and has been employed as a freelance developer for almost a decade.
Co-counder, Joe Urgo, is in charge of operations at district0x, he is also the CEO and founder of Sourcerers.io. Joe Urgo spents a lot of his time exploring the decantralised business model as well as token-enabled governance structures. The other members of the district0x team are all impressive in their own right when it comes to developing decentralised products.
What are Districts?
Within the District0x infrastructure, a community or market place is known as a District. Each Districtis decentralised and a completely autonomous organisation within the network. Each district has the ability to search, filter, allow user postings, allow for post rankings and user reputation options, and allow for payments to be made and invoices to be issued.
At the heart of each district sits districtox’s own infrastructure d0xINFRA. This framework is made up of numerous front-end libraries powered by Ethereum smart contracts. These then use the IPFS infrastructure to distribute functionality to power the basic features of each district. While developing d0xINFRA, the developers gave it the ability to be extendable and open to plugins and addons. This will be a way for users in districts to add 3rd party modules to the existing infrastructure, allowing for improved functionality and providing unique features for each district.
Do Districts Exist?
At this moment in time, only one district has been fully launched and is operational, while numerous other communities are under development. The first community to be launched on the d0xINFRA network was a community named Ethlance, which was launched January 2017. This community with a decentalised job market, which aims to provide job listings for those on the hunt for one. These jobs can vary from steady career jobs to one-off freelance opportunities.
The next decentralised district to be released on the network will be one called Name Bazaar. This district will be a peer-to-peer marketplace, which will allow users to exchance names, which have been registered using the Ethereum Name Service. This community looks to make finding and purchasing ENS easier from suppliers.
The most recent community announced is a district known as the Meme Factory. This will allow users to create digital assets and deploy them via the Ethereum blockchain. Users will then be able to post them on a marketplace, where they are able to exchange them. The market place will have a bulletin board layout, to allow for usability and simplicity.
Who can create districts?
At this moment in time, only the district0x team can create districts, however they are planning on changing that in the near future. Once they have ironed out the finer details and they are confident in the platform, they will release the community district creation platform. Once this is released general users will have the ability to launch they own district quickly and be part of the d0xINFRA network.
Districts are designed to be free of intermediaries and censorship, something which as been hounding the free internet movement for a long time. District0x is being designed to give internet citizens the ability to build whatever they need.
While users are still waiting for the district creation platform to be released, those communities interested are able to vote on which districts will get deployed by the project team next. This has been done through proposals via the community as well as letting users have a say on what they would like to see.
What are DNT Tokens?
The district0x Network Token, or DNT for short, is a token used for staking. It will allow users, who are serious about the district0x platform to be involved in the decision-making process. DNTs will be used to join a district, participate in one and govern them.
The number of DNT coins a user stakes in a district directly corresponds to their voting rights within that community. These voting rights are then used in the decision making process. These can include things such as branding, code of conduct, how fees are collected, and many other things.
The Future of district0x
The district0x development team have already released a considerably details road map, explaining their plans and how they’re going to progress. The first step on the road map involves releasing the final draft of its white paper and conducting a number of external audits of it’s district0x smart contract. White paper v2.0 was released in July 2017, showing that there has been progress made already.
During the net period, the district0x team will look deplot the d0xINFRA network and migrate Ethlance over to it. The project team will then look to deploy Name Bazaar and Meme factory, both which are currently in progress. Before the public contribution period starts, five more districts will be revealed and deployed as well as deploying the governance and DNT staking modules.
District0x seems like a great project, which a strong team of creative and talented developers, who are all working hard to create a system, which will be useful all across the world. If you’re looking for a more decentralised internet, look no further than district0x.
